Threads & Needles Program Overview

Threads & Needles is a program offered by Tinaliah “the One who perseveres” also referred as T2, a not for profit CT organization.

Professional Sewing Instructors:

Regina Bohn is a Professional Dress and Pattern maker, Instructor and Business owner with 40 years of experience. Regina had her own show called “A time to sew” on public CTTV.

Catherine Cazes-Wiley, is a French Fashion Designer, a Milliner, Director at Tinaliah “the One who perseveres” (T2) and Tinaliah Designs Co-op (T1).

Alteration Know How & Alteration 4 Business and Intermediate Sewing.

Date: 05/11/19-12/07/19 twice a week for 3 hrs class each time

Location: The green room/workshop in Makehaven, 770 Chapel Street, New Haven CT 06515, in the basement. Elevator is available at the end of the hallway. Buzzer is set up at the entrance on the left side of the glass door.  

Transportation is fairly easy as many buses serve the downtown area and classes are scheduled in lesser snow season. Bus stop is across the Street.

Program Composition:

There are 3 workshops or one long one 

1- Alteration know how and alteration for business. Learn about textile and its industry. Discover how to repair your own clothes and the ones of your family and friends or how to start a small alteration business. A 5 weeks course $125. More details available after short interview.

2- Intermediate Sewing making a summer outfit with mini fashion/trunk show. Course starts with taking measurements, making a toile (a muslin mock-up) learning many sewing techniques and steps along the way (making your pattern fit, sewing zipper etc…) until garment is completed to a perfect fit. A 6 weeks course $175. More details available after short interview.

3- Intermediate Sewing making a coat with special event at the end. A 16 weeks course studying textile add-ons such as appliqué, embroidery, beading, batiking, silk screening, ribbon flower and sew much more in addition to technical sewing steps necessary for the construction of the coat. $400. More details available after short interview.
